The Chicago Food Swap met this past weekend on a beautiful fall Sunday at the Peterson Garden Project‘s Community Cooking School. The group was made up almost entirely of veteran swappers, with only one or two new faces in the crowd. Having almost all experienced swappers in attendance certainly makes my job easier!
The offerings were especially delicious this month, ranging from fresh garden produce, to jams and pickles, to delicious baked goods and hearty soups. Take a look!
Pretty great, right? I brought raspberry vinegar, pickled peaches and Damson plum paste and took home Anna’s Hot Chocolate cookies, Gena’s pumpkin gingerbread, Chris’s cappuccino cupcakes, Katie’s butter cookies with lemon icing, Christina‘s cannoli pound cake, Patty’s hot fudge sauce, and even a few items that are not desserts, like Betsy’s vegan pumpkin curry and Sandy’s rice and black bean salad.
I don’t know how to say it any other way: if you live in Chicago, you simply have to come to a food swap. The food is so delicious, the creativity so inspiring and the people so much fun. Our next one — the last one of 2015 — will be on December 6, so mark your calendars! Registration is now open so you can sign up today and begin planning what goodies to bring. I hope to see you at the Swap!
