Chicago is a city rich in celebrity chefs, but perhaps none is as well known as Rick Bayless. Restauranteur, author, television star, Rick Bayless has been educating American audiences about authentic regional Mexican for decades. His restaurants Frontera Grill, Topolobampo and XOCO are destinations for Chicagoans and tourists alike. Home cooks rely on Rick Bayless’s cookbooks and line of prepared foods to recreate some of his authentic Mexican dishes at home.
It is no surprise, then, that Rick Bayless is also a member of Macy’s Culinary Council, a group of some of the country’s best known chefs who help home cooks, like me, achieve great results in their kitchens with recipes, events, cooking tips and more. There are Culinary Council events all over the country. I have been lucky enough to attend two of them and seen some of my favorite celebrity chefs, like Marcus Samuelsson and Michelle Bernstein, in action. I wear the apron that Michelle Bernstein signed for me at the Macy’s Grilling Guru event almost every day. I am definitely enough of a chef fan girl to get positively giddy when meeting some of my culinary heroes.
This Yucatan-style chicken tostada was inspired by a Rick Bayless recipe.

Rick will be sharing some of his favorite holiday recipes — great timing! — and cooking for the crowd. I cannot think of a better way to spend my lunch hour.
