Today’s post is sponsored by Argo Tea. Argo Tea has a special offer for West of the Loop readers to warm up this month: receive a free oatmeal with purchase of a signature drink at any Argo Tea cafe location. Argo Tea is also giving away a special gift to two West of the Loop readers: a tea gift set and a $50 gift certificate to its website. See below for details.
Do you have a warm mug of something sitting on your desk as you read this? I sure do. During the recent polar vortex, my pre-WWII furnace could not keep up and the temperature in my house fell to 56 degrees. 56 degrees! We got through it with extra sweaters, lots of blankets and mug after mug of tea. My husband and I are both tea drinkers. My tea habit is bad enough that when I saw a new dentist recently, as soon as I opened my mouth he said: “Tea drinker?” (I have since purchased a whitening toothpaste, so no worries.)
Our favorite local source for delicious tea drinks is Argo Tea. When my husband needs to meet with someone outside of his office, his go-to location is one of the Argo Tea cafes in the Loop. He’s had a lot of important conversations over mugs of white peach tea during the past decade. My favorite drink is a hot mug of sweet and spicy chai.
What I love about Argo Tea, besides the wide variety of teas, are the healthy food options. At breakfast, Argo Tea has delicious muffins and pastries, but also hot options like quiche — made with egg whites — and oatmeal. For lunch, I love how Argo Tea offers grains and salads with healthy whole ingredients like quinoa, lentils, chick peas and brown rice. These are especially helpful options for people on special diets, like vegetarians and those who are gluten-free. Argo Tea also creatively incorporates tea into a lot of its menu items, like Chai Chicken Curry and Quinoa or a panini with brie, spinach and chai-infused cherries.
Argo Tea’s loyalty program, the LoyalTea Club, offers lots of perks for regular customers, like a free drink on your birthday, a free drink with every ten drink purchases, discounts on food and drink combos, and a $5 bonus for every $50 loaded onto your LoyalTea Card. You can purchase or reload a LoyalTea Club card at any Argo Tea cafe or online. To get all the advantages of the LoyalTea Club card, you need to register your card, which will also help protect your balance in the event you lose your card.
Argo Tea wants to help you stay warm up this January and to that end, has an incredible offer for West of the Loop readers. With this coupon, you can receive a free oatmeal with the purchase of any signature drink. Whether you are tempted by the chai oatmeal with cherry and apple — definitely my pick — the matcha vanilla oatmeal with banana and walnut or the classic oatmeal with cherry and walnut, I can’t imagine anything more comforting than coming in from the cold to a cozy Argo Tea cafe and relaxing with a hot mug of tea and a hearty oatmeal.
If you don’t live near an Argo Tea cafe, you can still sample the company’s delicious loose-leaf teas, bottled tea drinks and stylish tea ware by ordering from the company’s website. To pique your interest, Argo Tea and I have a terrific giveaway: Argo Tea will send TWO West of the Loop readers a beautiful Argo Tea gift set and a $50 gift certificate to the Argo Tea website. I love herbal tea, especially varieties with chamomile. Argo Tea is my go-to for breakfast at O’Hare.
Emily says
That’s so funny that you say that, Alma, because I was just telling Elliot that I love the Argo Tea cafe at O’Hare because it’s the only remotely healthy food around there!
Christina says
Love Argo, especially their black teas! They got me into my tea obsession since there’s one 3 blocks from my office, and I started using their chai and earl grey in my jam this summer (plum and nectarine, respectively; chamomile is also good with strawberry).
I already have an Argo card (have to remember to go get my birthday drink), but I made sure to like them on FB! What a fun giveaway.
Christina says
(Oh, and I just shared it on FB and will probably send the link to the post around my office–we are suckers for free food)

What a great giveaway! I’m with you ~ I love me some chai. Sometimes I stick with straight chai; Other times I go for a ‘dirty chai,’ which involves adding a shot of espresso. SO good!
As for entries, I did them all, except for tweeting: signed up for their loyalty program, followed both of you on FB, followed both on instagram (username traceybee) and both on twitter (username traceybee) and followed you on pinterest (username MCVC). FYI, your link above for your instagram account is missing the .com. 🙂

One of my all time favorite herbal teas is chamomile. I just love it’s delicate flavor. I’m normally a coffee drinker, so when I turn to tea, I want comfort. And, that’s why I love chamomile. Classic and timeless. Love it!

I “liked” Argo Tea on FB. I also followed them on Twitter. And, I tweeted a link to the giveaway. 🙂
Liz A says
Only ONE favorite tea? It really depends. 🙂 I like all the interesting combos of flavors that Argo creates- both winter and summer mixes are fantastic. But in the morning, some green tea to start the day, unless it’s a lazy weekend, in which case I want black tea with milk and cream. But on a winter night, chai is the perfect cup of warmth while watching it snow outside.
Andrea Galvez says
My favorite tea right now is Argo Tea’s CHARItea, which is herbal (floral), but I also love mint tea! (P.S. I also liked West of the Loop & Argo Tea on facebook…so 2 extra entries!!). Thank you!
Emily says

Black tea for sure. Earl grey is my favorite

I love Carolina Honey Breeze/Tea. It’s the perfect blend of honey and sugar becuase normally I would put a good amount of sugar into teas but with drink I don’t have to and it pairs with any macaron perfectly.

I follow Argo Tea on Pinterest and Instagram.
Sam A-T says
I agree that the Carolina Honey Breeze Tea is my fave at Argo– but I also have to plug MarketSpice Cinnamon-Orange tea. I like sweet teas in the afternoon (I am a bitter coffee drinker in the mornings…), and this yummy blend of black tea and spices from the Seattle purveyor is pleasingly sweet with no sugar!
Julianne says
